Stalk of corn plants turning black and rot

Why do the stalks of corn plants turn black, develop fungal spots, or rot?

The stalks of corn plants turning black, developing fungal spots, or rotting could be due to excessive moisture, which exacerbates fungal issues.

Recommendation:

  1. Try to remove any rotten or yellowing parts of the leaves. Then, spray Mr Ganick Organic Plant Acid on the stalks and the canopy of the plant once a week, up to two times at most, to help reduce fungal issues.
  2. The blackened areas may not necessarily be removed, but the occurrence of fungal spots on the leaves, especially on new leaves, will decrease.
  3. Consider adding additional drainage channels to allow excess water to drain away. This prevents excessive moisture, which can lead to root and stalk rot.
