thrips problem on plants and flower

How can I control thrips in a densely planted area?

Thrips are adept at jumping or flying and often hide in concealed areas such as flower buds or leaf axils. In a large and densely planted area like this, comprehensive spraying is necessary, requiring a relatively large quantity.

Here are some suggestions:

  1. Place reflective cloth or zinc sheets on the soil surface or above it to deter thrips from laying eggs and prevent pupae from falling into the soil.
  2. The use of blue sticky traps is effective. It’s recommended to place them at least 1 foot above the plants, with one trap placed in approximately every 10 feet by 10 feet area. For this area, you should place 4-6 traps. Change them monthly.
  3. Prune plants with dense foliage to facilitate the application of organic pesticides later on.
  4. Consider purchasing Mr Ganick Ultimite Concentrate for regular spraying. Mix 10ml with 5L of water and spray the entire garden. Initially, spray twice a week (with a 3-4 day interval) for four consecutive weeks, then reduce to once a week.
  5. Spray closer to dusk (e.g., after 5 pm) as thrips are more active during the evening hours.
