Why do chili peppers crack during the rainy season?

During the growth of chili peppers, especially during the rainy season or periods of continuous rainfall, fruit cracking often occurs. This issue is mainly due to the relatively thin skin of chili peppers. When the plant rapidly absorbs excess water over a short period, the internal water pressure within the fruit increases significantly. Eventually, the fruit skin can no longer withstand the pressure and cracks. This kind of cracking can also easily lead to anthracnose disease (commonly known as “eye-spot disease”).

To effectively prevent this problem and reduce disease risks caused by excess moisture, the following integrated protection method is recommended:

Recommended Application:

This treatment is especially important during the rainy season—it is recommended to spray at least once a week to provide consistent calcium and magnesium supplementation, as well as disease protection. During the maintenance period or in drier weather, spraying every 10 to 14 days is sufficient as part of a routine prevention and plant health management plan.
